Psychotherapy

What is Systemic Psychotherapy?

Systemic psychotherapy is grounded in the understanding that we are shaped through relationships. Our identities, beliefs, coping strategies, and emotional responses develop within the contexts of family, partnership, community, culture and self.

Rather than locating a problem within the individual, systemic therapy looks at the patterns between people — the cycles of interaction that can become stuck or painful over time. Often, these patterns make sense when understood in light of past experiences, attachment histories, and the pressures of everyday life.

In therapy, we pay attention to these relational patterns with curiosity rather than judgement. Together, we explore how difficulties are maintained and what new possibilities might exist.

Whether working with individuals, couples or families, systemic psychotherapy can facilitate more useful and compassionate ways of relating — both to others and to ourselves.

Who am I?

Having completed a Bachelor in Social Work at Trinity College Dublin, I worked in the community and voluntary sector for twelve years, focusing on teenagers.

Through the Clanwilliam Institute, I further developed my career and completed a Master of Science (Systemic Psychotherapy) and their Professional Clinical Programme in 2023 and have been working therapeutically with individuals, couples and families since.

I work creatively with individuals and have a particular interest in different embodied practices, such as dance and yoga and have been a qualified yoga teacher since 2014.
